Inking

My husband (Jonathan) & I are firm believers in freedom of expression and with those beliefs we have developed an appreciation for tattoo art.
We both strongly believe in researching for an experienced and responsible artist before going to get tattooed.
Theophile has been a friend of ours for years now and we both have love for not only him and his family but we love the shop family too.
So when Jonathan decided on his newest tattoo we knew exactly where to go.
His idea was to have a fight between a opossum & a 3-headed turtle ( red-eared slider, alligator snapper, & albino stinkpot )
Theophile, who is a Cajun man himself, loved the idea and spent much time researching, analyzing & studying the animal movements, and sketching out the design and "flow" of the tattoo.
We were blown away by his design.
I had the privilege to document our time there at
Tattoo A Go Go.

I feel that here would be a good time to explain my style of photography and what I strive for.
With a background in painting and art history I fell in love with Caravaggio's use of chiaroscuro ( italian word for "light & dark") in his own paintings. This is why it will appear that Jonathan was getting tattooed in the dark when it was mid-morning to early afternoon.
I enjoy working with light in this way because of its dramatic appeal.

This day was only the outline and the next session is scheduled a month from now that will finish the entire piece.

A Mudbug Party

I wasn't born down here but I picked up loving crawfish quickly!
It's a tradition down here to have a crawfish or crab boil for the late spring and during the entire summer until crawfish go out of season.
and the boils are usually never a small deal.
I attended a crawfish boil this past weekend that was to die for.
There was boating, fishing, bouncing in bounce house's, and of course ton's and literally ton's of crawfish.
I hope I can effectively give you a sense of what went on.

This last one may be a little random but I had a hard time leaving it out.
He was chilling on the boardwalk that lead to a gazebo in the middle of the lake that we were fishing from.
